 What is structured cabling ?

In the early days of computer networking, cabling systems were proprietary, it would be the exception if one manufacturer's equipment could work with another manufactures cabling. If a company wanted to reorganise it would install cabling to the new required locations, often leaving the old cabling in place, cables were generally bulky and expensive.

Structured Cabling is a generic cabling system that is used to flood wire a building, so that wherever a work station is or may be located it will have access to at least two information outlets. These information outlets would connect the user to the voice and data equipment.

All information outlets are star wired from patch panels, administration can easily be carried out by the user and fault finding becomes simpler.

The standard information outlet is the 8 pin modular (RJ45) and the cable most widely used is four pair UTP (Unshielded Twisted Pair).
Standards based cabling systems ensure interoperability between different vendors.
Category 5e and Category 6 are the systems we are currently installing, along with multi-mode and single-mode fibre optic cable.

The system that we recommend includes a component warranty and application assurance of 25 years. This will give peace of mind that the system will be future proof and perform to your expectation. 

Molex Premise Networks enhanced Category 5 product range is known as the PowerCat System. It is designed to meet or exceed the requirements of Category 5E.

 Molex Premise Networks PowerCat 6 system is designed to comply with the Category 6 standards. The performance of the system is enhanced by the patented Molex plug and socket combination, allowing Category 6 level performance and backwards compatibility with the Molex Premise Networks PowerCat (C5E) system.
